Press Release: Jeff Tkach Returns to Rodale Inc. as Vice President, Managing Director, Rodale’s Organic Life
New York, NY – December 21, 2015 – Rodale Inc., an independent healthy, happy living company, today announced that Jeff Tkach has been named Vice President, Managing Director for Rodale’s Organic Life, the new magazine brand that launched in the spring of this year. In this role, he will oversee business objectives and day to day operations for the brand, reporting to Chairman and CEO Maria Rodale.
Leading efforts across print and digital advertising, sales and marketing functions, digital, live events, and e-tailing components, Tkach will work closely with Editor-in-Chief James Oseland to maximize growth opportunities for the brand. Together they will tap into consumers’ growing interest in healthy living with a brand that offers a fresh spin on food, garden, home, and wellbeing content across all platforms. Rodale’s Organic Life is a rebrand of Rodale’s perennial title, Organic Gardening, the first organic magazine and Rodale’s first title, launched in 1942. Tkach joins a brand and team on the rise: Organic Life has been on an industry awards hot streak, capturing a coveted spot on Adweek’s 2015 Hot List, and accolades from both Mr. Magazine and MIN as “Relaunch of the Year” and “Best Launch of the Year,” respectively.

Tkach returns to Rodale, where, from 2009-2013, he served as Organic Gardening’s associate publisher and publisher. He was instrumental in leading the brand’s 2009 re-launch that entailed a strategic shift to include relevant food and lifestyle content that helped tap into new advertising opportunities, meet broadening consumer interests, and set the stage for this year’s transformation into Organic Life. With this repositioning, he significantly grew ad paging and revenue for Organic Gardening and diversified the brand’s advertising mix to include mainstream household brands. Tkach also made an impression on the digital advertising front, driving a nearly 500 percent increase in revenue during the same period. During his time at the helm, Organic Gardening earned a spot on Adweek’s prestigious “Hot List: 10 Under 60” and MIN’s Editorial & Design Award for “Best Magazine Redesign” in 2010.

Most recently, Tkach served as vice president of sales and marketing at Life Time Fitness. Previously, he served as group publisher at Active Interest Media (AIM) from 2013-2015, overseeing Yoga Journal and Vegetarian Times. He was responsible for leading Yoga Journal’s relaunch in 2014, which led to a record-breaking 40th year of publication for the brand.He joined Rodale Inc. in 2001 as a marketing analyst for the single copy sales division and quickly ascended to become east coast account manager for Backpacker in 2005. Shifting brands in 2006, he took on the account manager role at Organic Gardening, where he was promoted first to advertising director and then associate publisher in 2009 before becoming the brand’s publisher in 2012.
A Pennsylvania native, Tkach earned a degree in business marketing from Kutztown University and a post graduate “Authentic Leadership Certificate” from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. He regularly speaks at various industry organizations and non-profits to help others achieve vibrant health through better lifestyle choices. Inspired by his work at Naropa, Jeff is an advocate for bringing mindful leadership to corporations to help people reach their greatest potential.
Tkach will return to Rodale in January, 2016, and he will be based in the company’s Emmaus, PA, office.
