Press Release: Vox Media Names Trei Brundrett Company’s First COO
Today, Vox Media named Trei Brundrett our first Chief Operating Officer. As an essential part of Vox Media since 2006, Trei grew Vox Product from a just few employees huddled in a DC basement into a division of 120 designers, engineers, and product managers who have successfully launched or relaunched each of our eight editorial brands, rapidly evolved our approach to advertising, and built our state-of-the-art Chorus platform from scratch.
“Across the industry, he’s built a reputation as an innovator and leader,” Chairman and CEO Jim Bankoff told Bloomberg about Trei. “Vox Media has grown into a ‘very large and complex operation’ with more than 800 employees, according to Bankoff, and needed an executive to oversee its two priorities this year: expanding its online video audience and developing more native advertising.”
Reporting to Trei, Joe Alicata takes on the role of Chief Product Officer to drive product strategy and unify product initiatives across Vox Media. Joe and the revenue product and operations teams have already been tremendously successful in allowing the company to package and sell advertising technology and products, including video and Concert, and as CPO he’ll continue to map new paths forward.
In addition, Lauren Rabaino steps into a new position as Executive Director of Operations, where she’ll use her skills as a leader on the growth and development team to create a framework for accomplishing our most important initiatives across the company.
This announcement comes on the heels of leadership appointments across our growing marketing team, which operates under new CMO Lindsay Nelson. Once again, it’s particularly exciting to welcome new team leaders from the outside, while also developing people and talent internally for Vox Media’s most senior leadership positions.
