Sharing Made Easier
"This is a significant development in the document management and on-demand print industry," says John Lyons, chief executive officer of Mimeo, a leader in on-demand print services whose company has just released DocCenter, a new document management system that allows organizations to post content to a centralized digital location and provide multiple-user remote access for printing and next day delivery.
As a universally accessible Internet-based document management system, DocCenter eliminates costly warehousing of documents, time consuming trips to the local print center and inconsistent quality of decentralized printing locations. "DocCenter provides customers with an innovative way to store, share, print and distribute documents, providing dramatic new levels of functionality and cost reductions," explains Lyons.
Documents ordered through DocCenter, he adds, are printed as specified by the original document owner, using Mimeo's ExactPrint software and centralized digital facility.
By using DocCenter customers can share their Mimeo documents with a wider group of people, and as Lyons explains this is a feature that customers have asked for in the past. DocCenter delivers this service by granting an unlimited number of people access to the documents of Mimeo's customers, Lyons says. It also has the capacity to set permission levels for each folder of information, giving customers control over documents, messages and brand identity. By using Mimeo's centralized digital printing facility, any document in the user's secured shared library can be printed, bound and delivered the next day, says Lyons, adding that all documents are accessible via the Internet.
"Maintaining control over our message and our brand integrity is critical," says John Sawyer, director of corporate and marketing communications at J.D. Edwards & Co. "DocCenter will improve our control and save us valuable time by ensuring that every professional has the right documents at the click of a button for printing, binding and next day delivery."
DocCenter is a "universally accessible digital library where customers can provide unlimited access to their documents while maintaining control over versions and print costs," Lyons says. "Training departments, sales forces, financial organizations, marketing teams or any corporate department can benefit from DocCenter."
