Press Release: SIIA Merges Two Divisions to Strengthen Content Industry Leadership
WASHINGTON, DC - March 26, 2015 - The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the leading association representing the software and digital content industries, today announced it has merged two of its divisions - Association of Business Information & Media Companies (ABM) and the Content and Information Services Division (CISD). The single new division serves information, publishing and media companies, as well as businesses that create technologies serving the content and business needs of the B2B marketplace.
The change allows SIIA to focus its resources and become a more powerful and resourceful association for information and media companies. With combined expertise and assets, the new ABM/CISD division is even better equipped to help its members grow and succeed. Michael Marchesano, who previously led ABM, will serve as managing director of ABM/CISD.
"The combination gives members greater access and insight as they navigate growth and change in the information, media and technology industries," said Marchesano. "Members will be part of a stronger networked community, allowing them to innovate, create new partnerships, and share best practices for maintaining world-class global media and information organizations."
The first major initiative of the newly combined division is a collaborative conference on the future of media and content. The ABM Annual Summit and the SIIA Information Industry Summit are now one event: ABM & Information Industry Summit 2015: The Intersection of Information and Technology. The three-day event will take place June 14-16, 2015 at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C.
Effective immediately, the combined Board of Directors and Executive Committee includes a balance of leadership from both associations. Both entities will provide oversight and guide the membership by bringing together member companies at the intersection of business information, media and technology.
ABM/CISD represents the intersection of business information, media, and technology, and is the home for nearly 300 member companies. These companies reach an audience of more than 100 million professionals, and represent nearly 4,000 print and digital titles, over 1,000 conferences trade shows, and data products. ABM/CISD companies are part of an industry with more than $40 billion in annual revenues.
