Time Inc. to Launch Spanish-Language TV Show on Telemundo
Meredith Corp. isn't the only publisher focusing on Hispanic consumers this week. Time Inc. announced yesterday its partnership with Telemundo and its planned launch of "SOS: Salva Mi Casa," a weekly home improvement show that will premier Saturday, April 11th on the Spanish-language network. This is Time Inc.'s first Spanish-language TV venture and signals its deepening dive into video products
Time Inc. was drawn to the partnership because it recognized a lack of content for a growing demographic of Hispanic homeowners. "Hispanics represent one of the fastest-growing demographics of homeowners in the United States," said Maria Lopez Alvarez, senior vice president of reality programming at Telemundo, in a press release. "We've built this series on the foundation of Time Inc.'s trusted and well-established properties in order to address the increasing number of Spanish speaking DIYers in need of solid home improvement advice and expertise."
The program has already received buy-in from major brands, with GMC, State Farm, and The Home Depot signing on as partners for the show's first season. The partnership includes multiplatform campaigns across TV ad spots, on-air social media integration, and print and digital ads in People en Español and This Old House.
Magazine publishers have been expanding their video footprints extensively in recent years. Bonnier's Field & Stream brand launched an internet TV partnership with Net2TV, Kalmbach has launched a successful video platform for its audience of train enthusiasts, and in the upcoming issue of Publishing Executive, we'll feature Guitar World's new Guitar Lessons app which provides mobile-friendly video lessons to app users.
