U.S. Printing Segment Propels R.R. Donnelley to Strong Q2
R.R. Donnelley reported second-quarter earnings of $146.3 million this week on what the company called strength in its U.S. printing segment. The Chicago-based company reported profit was 69 cents per share and that sales were up 4 percent to $2.92 billion.
“… We are pleased with our results in the context of challenging global economic conditions,” said Thomas J. Quinlan III, president and CEO of R.R. Donnelley. “The preparation and diligence in continuously managing our cost structure paid off as operating margins expanded, driven by our U.S. Print and Related Services segment.”
Net sales for the U.S. Print and Related Services segment increased 4.5 percent to $2.2 billion versus the second quarter of 2007, thanks largely to the acquisitions of Von Hoffmann, Cardinal Brands and Pro Line.
