Departures Posts 12 Percent Increase in Ad Revenue and Two Percent in Paging For the Full Year 2012.
New York, NY (November 19, 2012) – DEPARTURES Senior Vice President and Publisher Steven DeLuca announced today that DEPARTURES’ ad revenue climbed 12 percent and paging grew by two percent for the full year 2012. This marks the second consecutive year of robust growth, following a 46 percent increase in ad revenue and 43 percent climb in paging in 2011. On the digital front, advertising revenue for Departures.com increased 144 percent for the full year 2012. DEPARTURES is published exclusively for Platinum Card® and Centurion® members of American Express.
“Our two year revenue growth at the magazine reinforces the reliance and value of print advertising for luxury marketers. Additionally, our new digital products, such as our Blackbook App, help our partners reach their customers through multiple touchpoints and stay relevant in an ever changing retail environment,” DeLuca said.
Seventy eight new advertisers joined DEPARTURES in 2012. These partners represent the luxury sector in various categories from apparel and jewelry to travel and automotive and include Burberry, Michael Kors, Tod’s, Mikimoto, Vacheron Constantin, Brequet, Richard Mille, Mandarin Oriental, Orient Express, Raffles, and British Airways.
On the circulation side, DEPARTURES will move to a 900,000 rate base effective with the January 2013 issue. This is a 2.9 percent jump from the current guarantee of 875,000. In the most recent BPA Publisher’s Statement, DEPARTURES total circulation was 1,111,424 for the six-month period ending June 2012. The move to 900,000 is a 7.1 percent hike from the 840,000 guarantee that was in place when DeLuca joined DEPARTURES in 2010.
DEPARTURES is launching the first ever DEPARTURES HOME + DESIGN issue in May of 2013 as the eighth issue of DEPARTURES (published until now seven times per year). DEPARTURES HOME + DESIGN is the magazine’s first ever brand extension and will be distributed to a circulation of 500,000 targeting both consumers and designers in the top home and design capitals of the country.
